Mapping IT security to the business and the business to IT SecurityThe need to map security to the business has been an ongoing topic of conversation for quite some time. While that might mean different things to different people, the common denominator is that it requires a change in how IT and security professionals think about and approach security.Regulatory compliance has been a great enabler in forcing this sea change. SOX tied executive-level accountability to IT and compliance spending tied "gaps" in the IT infrastructure to a dollar amount. The need to prioritize what gaps to fix first helped to crystallize the discipline of risk management. According to Forrester, when you combine effective risk and compliance management, what you get is good corporate governance. ..... |

Agiliance Raises $6.5M; Ripe Digital Entertainment Grabs $32MThe Herring Take: Anything that betters a corporation’s security and/or compliance is surely a good thing, right? According to a Forrester Research report, vendors that focus on a single sub-sector of risk, or only a few compliance standards, do their customers a disservice. From what we can gather, Agiliance’s product seems rather comprehensive by covering, for example: Sarbanes-Oxley 404, HIPAA, GLBA, and FISMA. The compliance marketplace itself is on the move. AMR Research expects corporate spending towards compliance initiatives to reach $28 billion by 2007. |
